𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐑:
Khandker Nazrul Quader
IEEE Senior Life Member
Ex-Senior vice President, SANDISK Corp
Former CEO & President ,SK Hynix Memory Solutions

𝐀𝐁𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓:
The talk will start with a brief history of key foundational players of semiconductors. The theme of the talk will be to share how DATA is shaping our lives and fueling the current and future growth of Semiconductors. Semiconductor, a key enabler of IoE, is transforming all industries but has a significantly different trajectory than the past two decades. Memory has moved from a support role to a defining system role. NAND flash memory is one of the key technologies driving DATA and AI revolution. The second part of the talk will focus on the details of NAND Flash memory (including 3D NAND), future scaling path of DRAM and ongoing research to address challenges of memory wall, massive data processing and memory-centric computing. The talk concludes with some suggestions regarding Bangladesh Semiconductor strategy.

𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐑:
Khandker Nazrul Quader completed his B.S in Electrical Engineering and in Physics from MIT, his MSEE from Georgia Tech, and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UC. Berkeley. He has over 35years experience in Semiconductor industry. Khandker, an IEEE Senior Life Member, joined SanDisk Corporation (pioneer in semiconductor mass storage), located in Silicon Valley, California in1995. He worked almost 18years at SanDisk and served as the Senior Vice President of global Memory Organization. Khandker built SanDisk NAND organization from ground zero and played a key and vital role in leading SanDisk/Toshiba joint development, one of the most successful joint developments in semiconductor industry. While leading R&D (including Fab R&D), memory technology, memory chip design, and product development at SanDisk, Khandker played a pioneering role and has been instrumental in the R&D and productization of industry-first multi-level/multi-bit NAND (2,3 & 4bits) and NOR flash memories that then led to the explosive growth of NAND memory industry ($55B in 2022, projected to be $120B by 2031). After he left SanDisk in 2013, Khandker joined SK Hynix memory solutions (US Subsidiary of SK Hynix) as CEO & President. In 2018, he joined SunRise memory (early-stage startup) as CTO & EVP to develop new emerging non-volatile memory for Data Revolution Enabled IoE Era. In April 2020, Khandker left SunRise Memory and he is currently an independent consultant. Prior to SanDisk, Khandker worked for IBM (DRAM) and Intel Corporation (SRAM & NVM).
